Independent families (single-parent families)
Helping independent families (single parents) break out of the cycle of poverty by increasing their earning power, facilitating the exercise of their rights, providing professional training in selected fields, promoting public policies, and removing structural barriers.
The program includes 5 areas of activity:
The program makes employment-related information accessible to single parents and professionals in order to make them aware of the rights and services to which they’re entitled in the workplace. The information is continually updated, new training groups are opened and advertised, and assistance is provided on an individual basis, as well.
The information is made accessible through a number of means, including the group’s Facebook page, WhatsApp groups, distribution lists, live broadcasts, flyers and more.
The Facebook page helps build the connection between the government ministries and the program operators, creating a greater awareness of the needs and data on the ground, identifying bureaucratic barriers, and determining criteria that needs updating.
We offer professional training in fields with high earning potential, based on a unique model.
Within the framework of the program, independent parents (single parents) receive professional training courses in selected fields of employment in which the salary range is defined as high and there is potential for advancement in both position and salary. In order to enable single parents to participate in the programs with minimal disruption to their daily routine and work responsibilities, the trainings are short and focused – they do not exceed six months. We also take into consideration the most convenient hours for parents, the accessibility of the courses, and compatibility with the school calendar of young children.
Throughout the training, participants receive personal and group support, and, upon completion, they benefit from continued guidance, workshops on soft skills, and assistance with high quality job placement. The courses are run by professional companies in relevant fields.
To date, many single parents have participated in the professional courses, and the results on the ground are particularly impressive:
New professional training programs are publicized on the “Yechida Umuvcheret” Facebook page at this link: https://www.facebook.com/moovcheret/

Legal assistance for independent parents (single parents) operates on two axes:
This axis works in conjunction with the Legal Center Clinic of the Hebrew University.

We aim to modify existing programs and programs to help independent parents (single parents) integrate into the labor market and increase their wages. To achieve this goal, we are working to make the programs more accessible to single parents: adjusting and expanding the eligibility criteria, shortening the bureaucratic processes, and making the information more available.
In addition, we are driving the processes of updating and modifying the plans by introducing legislation and working closely with policy makers. Adapting the existing governmental programs to the reality of the lives of single parents is a major factor in a family’s ability to participate in these programs and to benefit from them.
This is an individualized program for single parents who wish to create financial balance and employment stability. The program lasts between 3 and 6 months and includes individual, online meetings once a week with a professional family advisor.
The mentoring process is personalized for each participant in the program, with the goals set based on the participant’s objectives, needs, and abilities. The guidance focuses on three main areas: finances, employment, and personal/family and can include any or all of these topics.
To date, 90 single mothers have participated in the mentorship program, leading to significant changes in their employment and financial lives.
